Mean while back at the ranch

The good life

Located in Northwestern Nevada, on the west slope of Fred's Mountain is a paradise for man and critter. Forty acres of largely undisturbed high desert, provides a home for two people, two dogs, one cat, two horses, and numerous rabbits, squirrels, coyotes, badgers, other rodents and ant colonies.


The People

Roy and Tara Blood are former Air Traffic Controllers. Roy plays at ranching and computers. Tara, writes, knits, and teaches bible studies.

The Animals

The dogs are an acquired female and one of her male puppies. She is a catahoula. The puppy was born on January 29, 2011 and was from a mixed hound father.

The two horses that their names tell much, Red and Rusty. They are older geldings. We also acquired an African Gray Parrot by the name of Corky.

The natural wild life consists of cottontail and jackrabbits, ground squirrels, kangaroo and pack rats and other rodents, along with coyotes. There is a large bird population including quail, blue jays, magpies, ravens, finches, sparrows, and sightings of red tailed hawks, and golden eagles.

The Location

The house is set on the South facing slope with the house having a southern exposure taking full advanatge of sun.
